Thomas Bat, MD is the founding physician of North Atlanta Primary Care, PC three decades ago in metro Atlanta. Currently as Medical Director and CEO he has grown NAPC to 11 offices in 5 counties surrounding the Atlanta metro area. NAPC is recognized for its length of service to the communities it serves, the high quality of care it delivers and the numerous awards and recognition it has received over the years. His personal accomplishments have led to NAPC recognition as a Superior Performer by MGMA, Nathan Davies award for use of Healthcare IT in 2005, Who’s Who of American Physicians, and as the first multi-site primary care NCQA PCMH in Georgia. In addition NAPC has been recognized by Novartis for his work on hypertensive and cardiovascular diseases and by Pfizer for treatment of tobacco abuse and smoking cessation.

Since serving as chief resident for his post graduate training at the University of Tennessee, he has served as past President of the Medical Association of Atlanta. Dr. Bat has become an active leader of the Medical Association of Georgia and the AMA. He currently serves as a regular delegate to the MAG House of Delegates and an alternative Director to MAG Board. He is Chairman Circle’s member for 10 years of GAMPAC and currently sits on the GAMPAC Board.

As a physician he emphasizes the treatment of the total patient, both physical and mental health. His particular interests are treating patients with multiple comorbidities, especially dealing with geriatric patients with diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. The motto “Physician Led and Patient Centric” is part of the NAPC culture.

Currently he serves on Georgia’s largest private ACO Board and has been on the CIN founding boards at both Emory Hospital and Tenet healthcare. His work with population health, quality metrics, and measuring outcomes is the culmination of 3 decades of real world experience dealing with diverse populations and utilizing computerized systems to analyze and identify areas for improvement. His believe in an interconnected healthcare system has led him to be an early adapter of EMRs for over 20 years and is currently working with HealtheParadigm to develop a state wide HIE that will give Georgia physicians and patients better access to comprehensive health records. Dr. Bat’s passion for healthcare is more than just a job, but he sees the profession as the foundation for a healthier community and a stronger America.
